I'm in total agreement with this guy. 5 batteries and a grip? Even if the shutter hadn't been replaced the price seems fair. You got a workhorse D700 that's in rough shape, but works fine. $700 seems fair. Hey maybe the guy did lie to you. But I bet you'll get two years out of the D700 no problem even with that many actuations. I say 2 years because I take 100,000 shots per year, ha! I mean, how much do you shoot? Yes...I agree with you. That is why I jumped at the deal. I figured I'd get a few years out of the camera. I may shoot 100k per year, but split among a couple of cameras.

I found this site which I thought was pretty interesting in tracking the number of clicks vs the life of the shutter.
