I believe that it is essential to differentiate between a "vacation" and a "photographic vacation."

You going by yourself or with some body else? If with somebody else, what's their level of tolerance for you holding things up changing lenses and taking photographs?

I am a proponent of the one body/one lens theory, although before I got married I just took as much as I could carry. I'd like a D800 and mid range zoom, but that's just for my personal uses. YMMV.
