Snapshot Challenge: "Lousy zoom" vs. $5,500 of primes

Ok - don't take this too seriously. BUT - here are 4 snapshots. Two pairs, all taken with an A7r and presented for pixel peeping pleasure at 50%. (a 24" wide print @ 150dpi)

Pair 1. A Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART @ f/4 vs. the soft, crappy FE 24-70mm f/4 wide open at 35mm

Pair 2. A Leica Summilux 50mm f/1.4 @ f/4 vs. the soft, crappy FE 24-70mm f/4 wide open at 50mm

EDIT - this image pair is focused on the Hershey's Cocoa "bean" emblem

PAIR #1 - 35mm @ f/4

All shots processed the same (LR5, modest presharpen, white balance - to Photoshop (up to 2-3% frame cropped to make frames match precisely. Progressive downsample to 1:2 original image size)

P.S. Yes, it appears my wife and I eat like a pair of 10-year-old-kids!

From time to time, I point my camera at the right things. This is generally when I forget everything I've learned.
