Re: Really frustrated - can you help?

I managed to straighten the pin in computer's built in card reader many years ago by carefully  (and I mean very carefully - the pins are very delicate and break easily) using a pair of fine long nosed pliers (my father called them needle nosed pliers)  to squeeze it back to straight.  It then needed realigning which can also be done with the pliers.  Once realigned try inserting the card gently; if there is any resistance recheck the pin alignment; if it is slightly out the card may bend it again and the pin may not survive a further bending.

Whilst it is possible that a DIY store may stock these they are more likely to be found in a specialist electronics shop or a model shop.

If you adopt this approach just be very careful and gentle with the pin; once broken it cannot be repaired (except be sending back to Olympus for a replacement card socket); but the xD slot will not be affected.

Given that you want the camera ready for your happy event I think trying to locate an xD card as has been previously suggested is probably safest for the moment.
