Nikon D7100 - cold weather - Green banding on sensor

Just wondering if any one else had experienced this problem. And if anyone had any ideas on it, was it the cold or something else?

I was at the ice caves on lake superior at sunset. Temperature was about -2F (-19C)

Camera was working as the sun went down, but as soon as it did my camera started having problems. A large green band appeared on the sensor. I took another shot, it was ok, then the next was not or the next. ( see Photos)

I figure that it just got to cold for the camera.

I tried changing the battery with a warm one I had in my pocket, but still same problem.

When I got back to the car, I put it in the back seat and drove for an hour before I tested it again. It worked fine after it had warmed up.

I also had the same problem the next day sunset.

It still seems to operate fine, it just does nt like the cold I guess.

Any comments appreciated
