and considering dumping the A7R for it?

If Sony do make a medium format mirrorless and 80mm lens, my A7R and 55mm is gone.

Wow, I would have thought that you might have developed more of a wait and see attitude given the obvious A7r shortcomings that should be addressed via the second version of the A7s. I think that there are a lot of technologies in flux. I won't be chasing the technology until I find a product that can do what I need and can do it better at a price that I can afford. EVF, dynamic range, auto-focus, camera dynamics and so many other improvements will come, but probably not in the same camera.

Depends on whether my shortcomings are the same I yours.

for me, I can use the A7R to shoot 36mp photographs.  The rest is meh... The way I am thinking is that Sony released a budget camera body - blatantly obvious.  We got great IQ in a tiny body - check.  There are issues but I'm not going to whine about it.  They could've charged D800E money (or there abouts) and at that point I would be a bit miffed tbh.  The fact is that none of the 'issues' has stopped me from actually taking photographs I want to take.

The bottom line is I bought it for what it does and it does it.  It's not perfect but then I wasn't expecting perfection.  Does that bother me?  Maybe if it was bothering me I could've a. returned it, b. not be an early adopter c. sold it.
