Is buying a Sony DSLT a risk?

I have been confused over the choice of my first dslr and have done a lot of research. I didn't really give Sony much thought. I was inclined towards Canon 60D but its bad high iso performance put me off.

But recently a Sony a3X user has highly recommended Sony A57 over any other camera in that price range. I used it and I found it a good camera, really fast focus and frame rate, but is there any risk in taking the Sony route over Nikon, Canon or Pentax given that I might look to upgrade my camera some years from now (not over $2000)?

Most electronic stores, even a dedicated camera shop in a nearby mall didn't sell Sony lenses (I will have to order them online.)

Also, are there any issues with A57's EVF?
