That might indicate why there have not been more reports, even sports shooters or BIF shooters are not going to shoot more than say, 15 RAW at a burst, then at least a short break?

I had the problem shooting motor sports, typically in bursts of 5 to 10. Then a break until the next bikes arrived.

From what I have read and observed myself, its hard to pin the fault to any particular cause.

For a lark I tried seeing how long I could get the camera to shoot continuously without slowing down (due to a full buffer). I set the camera to record small JPGs and manual focus. It went through 500 frames in 89 seconds without any problem. That has to be much more severe than 1 shot every 3 seconds. The EXIF data from the photos show battery voltage went down by 0.15V in just a few frames then down only another 0.1V for the rest and the temperature rose from 22.2C to 30.5C over those 500 frames.
