I agree it is one of their best cameras out there even today, and I could never understand why they stopped making them. Or why not make a true upgrade that retains the best of what a D700 offers in its pro features with some upgrades, but with more modest increase in MP without double the cost of a D4. With camera sales a bit down in last year, a camera like this would be a homerun.

Why did the Canon 5d mark 3 not jump to 36MP to match D800. Canon knew their market perhaps on what their pros want most.
