Using OCP Ink for 9000II in Pro-100 - Mixing LG & LLG

Hello folks,

I was just looking at the Precision Color inks for the Pro-100. I had planned on buying them, but I already have a complete set of OCP inks for the Pixma Pro 9000II that I have been using in that printer.

Looking at the ink set, the only real difference appears to be the LG and LLG. In the past I have easily made blends of different all-K inks using Paul Roarks Carbon 6 ink base.

Paul also has an ink base formula for use when mixing Claria K dye inks:

I suppose it is only partially worth the trouble, as I have to buy the ink base- I could just as easily buy the Precision Color inks. But I like the OCP inks and have a lot of confidence in them from past experience.

I also have almost a liter of the 6 base colors that are reused in the Pro-100. I can mix the LG and LLG from the existing K, and I have an Xrite i1 Pro so that I can create my own profiles easily enough.

Unless I just sell my two Pixma 9000II printers with the OCP ink, resetter, and the carts for refilling?

Hmm... I suppose I have to empty out the CLi-42 carts before I do much of anything. I have enough started-but-not-finished projects around, no hurry to start this one yet.

Once I get empty CLi-42 carts for refilling I will be able create profiles. I am glad to share those here if anyone else is interested.
