What do you mean by each lens needs to be calibrated?

I am not sure about that as I do not know what kind of information Sigma stores in their new lenses.

What I do know is that the color response of the Foveon sensor is affected by the incident angle.

This is often the case with digital sensors when using lenses originally designed for film (have a look in the Sony NEX forum). Sigma may well apply software correction, but newer lenses are also likely more telecentric in design and require less correction to start with.

While the Merrill chip may be worse affected, a software named Cornerfix was developed because of similar problems with Leica M8. Maybe worth a try to calibrate Cornerfix with a combination of the 14mm/3.5 and SD1?

Maybe ... but I do not own any SD1M, so I cannot test that.

What I do know is that my K-5 works just fine with any legacy lens I have tested. Also with a bunch of modern third party lenses.
