I had this impression before but when I read the review about the new Tamron 150-600 I felt that the reviewer was biased towards Canon gear. Here's what I mean:

When Bryan Carnathan is talking about the image sharpness of the Tamron 150-600 he describes it as "decent", "quite good". In general he is "quite pleased with its performance" regarding image quality.

On the other hand when he's talking about the image quality of the Canon 100-400 in a separate older review he comes to the conclusion that the sharpness delivered is simply excellent (original text also in bold!).

In his Tamron 150-600 review Brian obviously also had to compare the image quality of the two lenses. Here's what he says: "From an image sharpness comparison, these two lenses are more similar than different at wide open apertures with the Tamron holding a slight edge in the center of the frame in some comparisons. At 400mm, the Tamron is noticeably sharper."

So if these two lenses are comparable in terms of image sharpness (with a slight edge for the Tamron) why is the Tamron "decent" and "quite good" while the Canon is "simply excellent"?
