RX100 Faulty - What to replace it with?

My going on two-year old RX100 has a developed a really annoying fault - namely, the mode dial keeps spontaneously attempting to switch modes on its own. It seems like the electrical contacts are not aligning as well as they should. This causes me to miss some shots. I am assuming that repair is uneconomic.

I'm really happy with the camera in other respects. So to stick with the RX100 line my choices would be:

1. Buy a new RX100 - these are only £315 now - but are two-year old sensor tech

2. Buy an RX100 ii - expensive at £527, same basic image quality as RX100

3. Live with my camera's faults and wait for a mark iii version.

Any opinions welcome.
