I have the WB750 which is the predecessor of the WB800F, so probably works the same.

I hardly ever use it, so just tried this out for the first time. With the mode dial in P or ASM, when the down button (flower symbol) is pressed, a horizontal menu of 3 options-  AF, MF and Macro is displayed.

Macro is still AF but should be chosen for subject distances less than about 80cm. Use the left and right buttons to make a choice.  For AF or Macro, press OK to save that choice.

For MF, focus can be adjusted before saving.  To do that, press the down button a second time and a focusing scale overlay is displayed.  Use left and right buttons to adjust focus.  MF also focuses down to macro distances.  Minimum seems to be around 15 to 20cm.   Once satisfied with focus, press ok to lock that distance.  Then press the shutter button to take the shot.

The focal distance and focus mode are saved, so subsequent shots at the same distance only require another press of the shutter.

It works fairly well in practice and MF is much quicker and easier to use than on my old Olympus superzoom.  It is still not as convenient as MF on an NX or a dslr.
