Re: 16-85 ... ?

I used the 16-85 for a couple of years as my walk around and for that purpose - jack-of-all-trades kinda thing, it's good. VR went out on mine and I saw a few others who'd had the same problem but that can happen to any lens. I recently got the 18-140 as part of the purchase of my D7100 and I am more than pleasantly surprised. I like it much better than the 16-85.

In fact, as I noted in another thread, I'm rather bummed that I promised it to my wife (to complete her upgrade from D40 and 18-55 kit to D5300 and - now - 18-140). I enjoyed it as a walk around and even got some very decent close up bee in-flight shots.

Since a lot of people got them as part of a lot, you should be able to get one somewhat cheap. Great lens.
