Bag w/ tripod attachment straps

You will be much more comfortable, if carrying the tripod securely down the side of your bag, or centered vertically, at the middle of your pack.

Have a look at the Vanguard bags, and see if there is anything you like.

Bigger tripod can be carried easier.

With this type of system, you could carry a much more substantial tripod, instead of those dinky travel units.
