How do i know my tamron 70-200 VC is working correctly at 200mm?

I don't know if it's just me, but the 200 end seems abit shorter than it should be - i took a picture of the moon and compared it to another pic of the moon taken by a 18-135 and they look almost the same, with the tamron pic being slightly larger.

i then compared it to a pentax 55-300 f4-5.8(my friend's) at a bird park, and at 300mm the pentax indeed had higher magnification? I am using a 650D, so the tamron ought to have x1.6 = 320mm at 200mm.

Am i missing something or is my lens just wrecked?

P.S i have heard of focus breathing, but i'm not sure if the difference ought to be this significant?
Any help would be great, thank you guys
