K5IIs - external mic not stereo

I have a cheap external stereo mic that I plugged in to my K5IIs just to test the external mic socket. In recordings almost all the sound is in the left channel. There is a little in the right but the level is way down. I tried the same mic in the K5 and everything sounds normal in both channels. There is no way to adjust it is there?

I suppose I have a bad mic socket? Yeah K5's are not great video machines anyhow but it should still work.

Anybody else try an external stereo mic on their K5II or IIs?  It could be a firmware thing so I would like to know if anybody else has the same issue.
