distortion @ 12mm, several lenses compared

Barrel/pincushion distortion is automatically corrected by camera firmware for JPEG images for several micro 4/3 lenses. For Raw images the distortion correction factors are included as metadata inside Raw files. Several programs, such as Photoshop and Lightroom, detect this information and automatically apply the correction.

The following images illustrate what the Raw images, taken at 12mm, look like without distortion correction. I'll start with the lens that has the least distortion.

Panasonic 7-14mm

Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm

Olympus M.Zuiko 12-50mm

Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm

Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm

Panasonic 12-35mm

Panasonic 12-32mm
