Highlight/shadow correction and RAW

If I set highlight correction to on, then an extended S shape is added to the bright part of the JPEG mapping curve. If I set shadow correction on the same thing is done for the lower part.

Both will extend the JPEG dynamic range.

The highlight correction on will also under expose the image, which is compensated for when doing the JPEG and when displaying at the LCD review.

So - what happens when I load this RAW image to a RAW converter?

To be as intended, extra S shaped parts should be added. And if the highlight compensation is on, the images should also be slightly brighter.

Is this anything that RAW converters in general understand?

I have looked in Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4.

In the viewer window, I can see that I have set D-range:highligt to Yes.

But, I can find nowhere where I can turn this off. And I have not the slightest idea if the Utility cares about this setting when doing the conversion. I assume so though - which makes a pure RAW conversion impossible when this is set.
