RX10 jpeg question

In it's review of the RX10 dpreview says, "Sony's JPEG engine doesn't really do the camera justice, as it tends to smudge and over-sharpen details. You'll see much better image quality by switching to Raw, where you can adjust the noise reduction and sharpening to your liking."

I've had six Sony cameras and with all of them there are custom adjustments for jpegs, such as saturation, sharpness, noise reduction etc. So why does dpreview fault the RX10 jpegs when it seems to me that the jpegs could be easily tweaked to taste? What am I missing?

Take a picture, it'll last longer.
