Tethering Help - D600

Hey everyone,

Got myself a new toy, macbook pro with retina. Partly because I am hoping to use tethering when shooting landscapes, and outdoor portraits. After reading and watching some tutorials, I still pretty much uncertain about some issues and need your guidance.

Given the following

-Nikon d600

-Non-professional, unpaid, hobby

-Macbook Pro

-Using Lightroom 5 (or suggest other for better tethering?)

-Shooting (75% RAW, or 25% RAW + JPEG FINE). So basically always RAW.

What are the common and recommended ways to tether for landscapes and night sky ), and outdoor portrait?

-If via cable, I presume usb?

-If wireless, how reliable and how fast is it in transferring images?

-Will I be able to see the images on computer screen before shooting (e.g. liveview? or only after?)

My preference is of course for wireless solution if they are affordable, reliable, and quick enough. Otherwise, I will stick with cables as I imagine I won't be farther than 2-3m from the screen.

Hope I managed to ask a coherent question

Any thoughts/suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.
