I think there's a Live View exposure simulation that you can turn on/off. You might want to try that. It should be in the camera menu somewhere (I don't onw the camera you have).

I wondered how people handle bokeh in video when using a DSLR then?

I guess while you record, DOF or Bokeh is displayed, but in Live View you'll need to use the DOF button and exposure simulation to get an idea what the final image is going to be.
