I'm not an experienced photographer but I haven't noticed any shutter shock issues with the images from my E-PM2 or E-PM1 for that matter. I went and looked back at my photos and I cant find anything that leads me to believe there is a problem. I also have the VF3 viewfinder and it meets my needs when shooting macro and on bright days. I works when I need it and that is all I can ask for. I mean the viewfinder doesn't take the picture the camera does. I use it to frame the shot and to check focus.
I had that combo too. It would be one thing if that combo was 1/2 the price. Quite simply the em10 is priced so aggressively I just do not see the point in not picking the em10. The only reason not to is if the resale is so poor on the pen and vf3 that the em10 is out of your reach...otherwise for someone buying between the two there is no real reason not to go with the em10.
A viewfinder does not make the photo, the typewriter does not make the book, and the terminal or PC hardware does not make the code. But it usually is the case that those of particular crafts enjoy tools that make it all the more enjoyable nonetheless. And the em10 is not luxurious in cost, its simply the better choice now.
I'm not saying pick the E-PM2 over the EM-10 I'm just saying I haven't noticed any shutter shock issues and the VF3 is serviceable. Personally I would not buy a camera without a viewfinder or the ability to add one. In my case I'm retired and this is a hobby so it's a matter of economics. It's a choice of having a camera or not having one and I would rather put the money into lenses. The one thing I must say is Olympus should be commended for putting the same sensor in all their cameras from the entry level models to their top models. That's the type of thing that builds a loyal customer base.
