Well, there is some, although it is mainly guesswork and masking the issues of "hard clipping", not true recovery. One should definitely not blow any important highlights. But in many harsh-lit scenes where we happen to be more interested in the shadows, the hottest highlights are not all that important - just the artifacts of hard digital clipping are bothersome. In such cases, using "highlights recovery" can make a difference, and LR4 was a big game-changer in this regard. RT4 offers several different recovery methods.
