Samsung NX Mini and 1" sensor

Samsung's new NX Mini has a 1" sensor compared with an APS-C sensor in their other ILCs.

Some quick thoughts:

  1. Why is Samsung going this route?  Do they think that the APS-C mirrorless market is too competitive?
  2. Are they really going to have another set of NX-M lenses with a different mount to their existing NX lenses, or will they rely mainly on using NX lenses with the adapter that has been announced?
  3. 1" sensor is gaining ground as another alternative sensor size between APS-C and the compact camera sensors.  I suppose that this is to be expected as improved sensor technology makes smaller sensors less of a compromise.
  4. On the whole I guess that it is good news for M4/3 and bad news for APS-C cameras.
