Re: Would switching form NEX7, help me with focus on my kids?

I can't speak for OMD cameras as i haven't learned their systems, but i do own a GX7. I love all the options to get the focal plane where i need to. PIP and normal 10x zoom make MF easy, and peaking can be used for both as well. Af is much easier than i anticipated with so many options. First off, you can adjust the size of the AF box from very small to full screen. You can also choose pinpoint which will zoom in as it's attaining focus lock (zooming up to 10x) to show you the exact spot it locks to. You can even zoom in up to 10x while composing and then AF lock onto the tiny spot you are pointing at.

Smaller boxes have less chance to see contrast so things like pinpoint won't work in candlelight but with so many options its all easy to use. Face detection also works very well, object tracking too. I completely understand when AF becomes an issue, all the IQ in the world matters not if your shot isn't in focus.
