TC "Loose Part" Noise?

I'm not skilled at all in understanding lens construction and parts.

Today I received a Nikon TC-14E II 1.4X Teleconverter.

I note that when I pick up the TC or when it's mounted on my 70-200 F/4 lens, there is a "loose part" noise that's easily traced to the side of the TC that attaches to the lens.

The "loose part" looks like a small aperture blade that is in a small curved slot and can move from one end of the slot to the other side of the slot, traveling about 3/8 of an inch or so.

I did a search in this forum and come up short, making me think that there's something I should know about a TC.

I'm not hitting the panic button yet, because it seems like this part in the slot I described fits quite well and looks designed to be "free floating" as it is.

But........I'm not used to hearing that kind of a loose sound associated with a camera or camera gear.

Can anyone please educate me about this part in the slot?

Thanks, as always.........
