Depends exactly which camera you're talking about, but...

  • xxD series (60D, 70D): more buttons and dials, meaning you can change settings faster. Brighter and larger viewfinder. More weather resistant. Bigger and heavier (some people prefer this. You might now). The 70D also has a better autofocus system, particularly in live-view and video.
  • 7D: even more buttons and dials. Still more weather resistant. Even bigger and heavier. Excellent phase-detect autofocus (but live view autofocus as slow or slower than the T4i). A buffer than lets you shoot 25 RAW images at once. No articulating screen.
  • 6D: Pretty much a 60D but with a full-frame sensor, with all the low-light goodness that implies. No articulating screen.
  • 5D (Mark II/III): More buttons and dials than the 6D. More weather resistant than the 6D. Bigger and heavier than the 6D. Better autofocus than the 6D.
  • 1D X: so many buttons and dials that you'll never remember what they all do. Could be run over by a tank and still keep working (see here for the Nikon equivalent being jumped on by a bear - after which it still worked fine). So many autofocus options you'll never work out the differences between them all.

Also note that the 1D X is significantly more than twice the price of your T4i - 10x would be more accurate.

Fairly accurate, concise description.

The T4i is a great camera for the price.  I have it and a 7D.  Use the T4i for personal and sometimes for work shoots.  Is it a 7D as far as AF, speed, buffer? No.  But it will do just as good a job in the right hands.  Once you learn the interface and the camera's capabilities (and they are plentiful), you will be taking great pictures.  A lot of it will depend on you as well.

Congrats on your choice!
