Re: D600 dropped in ocean!

I've exposed or dropped two cameras into water.  The first, an old Canon A620 I carry when flyfishing, was fully submerged for a few seconds in a Colorado mountain stream.  The second, an older Nikon D70, was briefly exposed to salt spray while standing in knee-deep in surf.

The Canon acted strangely at first; the display screen was splotchy and the lens would not fully extend, but then it was fine after it dried out, and it's still working two years after taking the plunge.  The Nikon seemed fine at first after I wiped the salt spray off with a towel soaked in fresh water, but after a few days the on/off switch stopped working and the local Nikon repair center told me not to waste money on having a five-year-old camera repaired.

Fresh water baths don't always kill cameras, but salt water dunkings are usually deadly.
