With an older model its important to do everything you can to "soften" the features.  The lighting, makeup, hair, and even poses here are all very "hard" and not flattering.

Soften the lighting, use an umbrella or softbox with off camera flash above the model. Soften the hair and makeup so they are more natural and less garish. Put your model in natural poses that reflect both her age, wisdom, and experience.

If you go to strobist.com and check out Lighting101 they have a good primer to get you going.  It helped me alot.
