EOS-M isn't dead....yet. It's still alive and kicking but only in a few "selected" Asian countries. I would say EOS-M is in comatose on a life support....barely holding on.

On the other hand, Canon will continue to develop/improve (APS-C) DSLR Live View AF and DSLR sensors, and they already make EVFs for HD camcorders and Cinema EOS. Canon can put that technology into a future (APS-C) EOS M.

In the mean time, it's hard to blame Canon for not aggressively rushing into a money-losing sector.

Do you have data showing that mirrorless is doing worse that DSLRs?

According to CIPA data, unit shipments of DSLRs decreased in 2013 by 14.7% and mirrorless decreased 16.4%. However, the value of DSLR shipments decreased 11.4% while the value of mirrorless shipments decreased only 2.8%.
