I treat my D800 exactly as I did my D300 including drops and bangs and both survived fine. Can't say I feel so confident about a D610 but then I've never used one for a long period of time.

Metering is different on the D800 than the D610, and completely different from the D300. The main difference you will find is the amount of preference is given to the focus points in the different modes. The D600 is probably closer to the D300 than for D800 for metering purposes.

I find the D800 far more accurate than the D300 when it comes to exposure.
