Ever since I've upgraded to FF a god month ago I haven't been able to decide which midrangezoom I should buy. I've read tons of reviews and comments on this forum (thank you everyone) - 24-85, 24-70 both tamron and nikon, 24-120.

I'm looking at some really nice deals on the Nikon 24-70mm at 1250€ for a brand new model. Used market is more limited and I gues I don't want compromise as a used copy just is about 150-200€ cheaper and get wear and tear + no waranty.

But is it good timing to buy the Nikon 24-70mm right now? Sigma is supposed to come up with a update of their version and although no roumor probably also Nikon will come up with an update soner ro later. Should I go for the god offer now (saving 200€ on a brand new model) or should I wait and see - managing with primes? I guess I could survive for a while without a midrange zoom but I'd be missing this offer.

Given that the 24-70 Nikon is getting old, and you have three primes that provide excellent IQ in the same range as the 24-70, I wouldn't get it. I would consider getting the 24-120 VR f4, as an alternative. While it is not a light lens, it is a lot lighter than the 24-70, which makes the 24-120 a better walk around. I also use it for events such as weddings. I have had a 28-70 2.8, since the days of film. It served me very well for events, But I noticed that I still needed to use flash at receptions, so the 2.8 aperture wasn't all that necessary. From about f5.6 on up, the 24-120 is excellent, and it gives me greater reach. The 24-120 is a very underestimated lens.

Agreed. I sold my 24-70 for the 24-120 as an "all in one" general purpose zoom. The 24-70 is marginally sharper, but the 24-120 beats it in terms of range plus it has VR. Both are Nano coated. At 120mm the 24-120 is a bit soft but nothing that causes major issues.
