What do you recommend as or may be "standard" in setting up one's SD1 M ?

ISO
colour mode
expo compensation
...

There is no standard setting. If the light is dull/soft you can use ISO100 with +0.7 exposure compensation. If there is harsh contrast (strong sunlight) you maybe need ISO 200 and +0.3 exposure compensation (or ISO 100 and -0.3/-0.7..)

Reddish sunsets or flowers in sunlight maybe need ISO 200 and -0.3...
It really depends on the situation.
The cleanest results you get with ISO 100 and ETTR.

You can always change the color mode in SPP, it doesn't affect the RAW.
For better representation of the scene in the camera display you might use "neutral" color mode.
But i mostly stay with "standard" color mode.
