I'm with you here.

It's the same like "we don't need touchscreens, because they are for smartphone shooters, and not for photographers". Which, in my opinion, sounds ridiculous, because sometimes touchscreen is very handy (waist level shooting, or at awkward angle), and when you don't want to use it, just don't do it.

Same with AF - no one make you rush for the shot with fast AF, but you can't speed up slow one, when you need it.

More different tools and possibilities camera has - more fun to use.
