NX300 first experience, coming from a D800
6

Hello,

I have a Nikon D800 with a lot of big and heavy lenses as my main camera, but I just got the NX300 as a small travel / backup camera. I first bought a NX2000 on impulse, sold it immediately as I hated the lack of buttons. My first impressions with the NX300 are much better:

- Nice picture quality in RAW
- JPEG pictures not so good
- decent ergonomics, though the main dial is a bit small and a little awkwardly placed.
- really nice and very lightweight / small lenses. Got the 30mm and the 45mm.
- I would have preferred something with a bit longer focal length than the 45mm, though. The alternatives (60mm macro and the 85mm 1.4 seem good but are way too heavy in this context).
- I'm still playing around with the autofocus, seems fast and accurate so far.
- Good menu system (unlike the ridiculous Sony NEX series system).

All in all: this seems like a pretty good camera!
