Re: Best photo editing software?

The bigger cost of photo software is the time it takes to learn it, and whether your PC can run it fast enough.

When I decided to learn Lightroom, I had to get a book on it. I also had to upgrade my Windows computer from a 2002 era XP machine to a 2010 quad core running Win 7. That may be less of an issue with Mac's. By itself, Lightroom isn't enough for me. I do heavy edits with Photoshop Elements.

Lots of good software out there. Pick something that has staying power. You're going to invest a couple of months learning it. Pick something where you can get help learning it, i.e., Dummies type books. And make sure the books apply exactly to your version of the software. Otherwise, small changes in key sequences will leave you lost.
