How big of a deal is the small focus area on the Nikon D600/D610 for you?

Re: How big of a deal is the small focus area on the Nikon D600/D610 for you?

I recently upgraded to D610 from D7100. Previlusly I had the D70. I've always focused and recompose with my D70. The D7100 was deffeinitely a game changer.

I'm missing the coverage of the AF area I had in the D7100 but only because I started to shoot my kids at indoor sports (judo). With the D7100 I could compose the picture, chose the focus point and wait to take the picture in the right second using the AF-C mode this was a walk in the park and with very rewarding results.

The case is obviously different with the D610  - so far I'm left with cropping in order to get the wanted framing. I've only been shooting one training  with the D610, so maybe I also just have to get used to my new gear
