Re: Canon user got the X-T1

Congrats for the move to Fuji.

I am also a Canon shooter (mainly 5D for years before moving to the 5D3) Unfortunately for the 5D3, i got the Fuji X pro 1 at the same time which became my main camera for the last 2 years. I do love the XP1 but will add it drives me crazy at times (mediocre AF and EVF lag which makes a big difference when most of my photography these days are photo of my young son)

Today I picked up my 5D3 for the first time in probably 9 months. I was completely astounded by the size and weight. It seem to have grown bigger in the dark cabinet over the long period.

A few observation, none of which should be surprising but I simply lost appreciation for:

(1) 5D3 AF smokes the Fuji although I would say the 5D3 AF wasnt quite as fast as I remembered/imagined. Clearly I need to reassess my AF expectations since Fuji may not be as slow as I thought (although I still think the 60mm is unusable for anything that move unless it is in bright light)

(2) I have forgotten how shallow the DOF of a FF is. While that may be great at times, I had to delete large number of shots because the DOF is so shallow (one eyelash in focus but not the other).

(3) Fuji AWB and SOOC JPEG files are miles ahead of the Canon. Some of the Canon AWB are really horrendous and you can't use them without post processing. I supposed I could manually WB but I am just lazy. Fuji files do not need much work.

Felix
