Your camera iis T5i (Euro model 700D), NOT T5 (Euro 1200D).    T5i is a higher tier model that costs quite a bit more.    Granted, US camera model names for budget tiers are quite confusing.

You never responded in the other thread as to which lens you were using etc.

As I explained, zoomed in, depth of field is less and is 'harder to find' especially in low light.    Additionally, your lens max aperture closes down from 3.5 to 5.6 when zoomed in, letting in about 3x less light, making it harder to focus.

You should be able to poke at a spot on your screen where you wish to focus, pick some spot that does not get obscured by other things often.  Or use manual focus.
