Aside from the advice that's already been given, it's a good idea to turn off the OSS when you're on a tripod. Using a sturdy tripod and a self timer I've managed very sharp 30s exposures.

Possibly you will need to try perfecting your focus technique - this isn't easy in the dark on an NEX. It will take some practice.
