Typical 70-300L vs 70-200 IS f4L vs 70-200 2.8 mark I question....

It seems each has its merits, all 3 great IQ, some better at some areas.....but I need to decide....

70-300 might have best all around sharpness...

(you can fool around here):

I see a 70-300L 4-5.6 for sale for around a grand...Very nice, more compact but extends out. Extra 300mm and focuses fast. Has IS

70-200 F4 IS: Faster in the telephoto range constant f4. Longer lens.

70-200 f2.8 nonIS: softer wide open but 2.8 advantage.

The latter two can have extenders without problem.

Has anyone owned or used several of these to really get a feel for which is better in the long run after using them for a while?
