A note about resolution + ISO

Remember, you're comparing 16MP to 20MP. Even if the noise level of the NX appears more, the difference in resolution may still give the overall edge to Samsung.

Here at ISO-200, the NX300 shows decidedly more detail in JPEG. View at 100% to see the unscaled image.

BELOW (RAW ISO-1600) NX default JPEG settings use heavier NR than Fuji, but RAW shows how the 20MP retains more detail. The difference in default ACR export noise is negligible, while the Fuji is cooking RAW with NR, apparently. Not saying the Fuji doesn't have great range and shadow depth and color, but noise wise, at higher ISO, I don't think we should assume the conventional wisdom that X-Trans is superior to the NX 20MP at higher ISO.

And here at base ISO-200 RAW, we see a disturbing moire-like banding effect.

Those lines on the floor of the illustration aren't really going that direction (check the benchmark camera). For a sensor that touts no AA filter, at a meager 16MP I think that's a significant problem. You see that effect with the other X-Trans sensor cameras, too.

I had an X100 for a while (lovely camera) and for the small bump in ISO and MP, I saw no reason at all to upgrade to an X100S. There was a lot of complaining in the Fuji camp about X-Trans issues, including weak/under-valued green levels. IMO, they need an updated sensor before I'd consider Fuji.
