[Rumor] NX F1 More Inforamtion and Image.

I've been seeing pictures of this odd little camera everywhere today, and I will confess to being intrigued. The perfect pocket camera still eludes me ... The most interesting thing about this candidate is that it seems to offer a prime lens as an option, which would be novel to say the least in the pocket camera field. However, the 24mm FOV is way too wide for me. I can see why a pancake wide angle is an appealing choice from a packaging standpoint, but when even a camera phone offers me a 33 or 35 mm FOV. I can't see going even wider.

How 'bout the small sensor equivalent of a fast fifty, what would that be, a 19 or 20 mm? Then, we're talking, especially if the body comes in a nice leatherette brown instead of the pink.

Any chance of there being a range of lenses for this camera?
Nikon has an 18.5mm for the 1 line, which is the same FOV as a 50mm on full frame.
I have one and love using it with my Nikon V1. I'm afraid it would be too big to still fit into a pocket, regardless of what Samsung does with the optical formula.
I agree - hopefully Samsung will announce the development of a couple narrower primes and a telephoto zoom. Samsung did release a roadmap when they initially announced NX back in 2010 or so; it'd be nice if history repeats.

I wonder if Samsung has allocated the necessary resource to manage 2 different lens roadmaps. I have my concerns.

Yes, almost certainly an Aptina sensor I think.

It will be a big failure if it doesn't have a built in flash.

Some of the images seem to show what could be a small flash to the right of the lens, a position that some compacts also use (and which is often covered by fingers). I'm not sure what else it could be if not a flash, it's not the Samsung name, and it would be a huge focus assist light.

It says right here there's a built in flash.

Could be a compact 15mm or something as well? This would be a nice wide standard focal length (40mm) that is pretty typical on compact fixed lens cameras. It would be a little close to the 9mm, but also more compact than the 20mm. 1.5x separation between primes is pretty good.

Since this has 1" sensor size, there is no reason you can't make a decent performing pancake. Sony E mount with full frame is a much larger sensor size so it is more difficult to illuminate the corners, especially with the small throat size in the mount, just means you have to set the lens further out.

I sure can. I'd get one of these if it had 12mm or even 10mm equivalent prime or kit. I'd love it! Super for street and night shooting downtown, great for landscapes and architecture if there's minimal edge distortion (tall order with 1" sensors - my RX100MkII had major edge distortion correction that marred an otherwise razor sharp optic).

After picking brown on my NX300, I'm ready for black again. Brown plastic and fake leather just doesn't look good to me.

I am not a great fan of wide angle-- I might be carrying a Ricoh GR right now if it wasn't for the FL. 35mm (FF equivalent) is as wide as I like to go-- I like that FOV for street style shooting, though my usual carry lens is closer to 50 mm. A 40mm FF equivalent lens would work for me-- I liked that FL on film.

You are right, there is no way that body profile is thick enough for an NX mount. Maybe they use same electronics and have an extension tube type adapter for existing NX lenses? They also have the comment "Short Flange Back".
On the lens, there is something like "NX/M mount". Hopefully there will be an adapter or some kind of speedbooster for existing NX lenses.

All I hope is that Samsung can find a way to make the systems complementary...

Well, because I found a rumour (that I linked) where a supposedly first hand account of someone that got their hands on one said there isn't one and this slide is actually probably kind of old (considering all the TBDs on it). My gut tells me there will be built in flash, because even the tiniest cameras these days have one, but there is a chance it won't. Personally I wouldn't miss built in flash as long as it has a hotshoe (SEF-8 is still pretty small ^_^).

Haven't we seen samples on the web with a 2.72 crop (1") sensor that has EXIF data for existing lenses? I am almost certain it will support them in some capacity with an electronic adapter.

I guess there had been contradicting data within those EXIFs as the lens was flagged as 10mm Fisheye while the focal length values said 9mm so I rather believe now that it did display the wrong lens info but the correct focal length.

There, I fixed it for you (:
BTW I just noticed there is NFC in the lower right corner. And the only place where flash could be is upper right corner - otherwise it would be blocked by turned screen.

You're joking, right? The target audience this camera is aimed at do not want a hotshoe and to carry an extra external flash. A built in flash is vital for night time and any low light social situations. If it doesn't come with a flash, people just won't bother buying and using it over their average smart phones.

Oh my poor eyes!!!!

@wmt: That camera looks soooo much better, especially the black one; thanks for fixing it! :-)
