Well,, I took them at high quality, I must have recompressed them by accident in Photoshop. I hadn't really looked at them on the web, they do not look as high quality as the originals.

Whereas Macro Image3 = 561KB
and Frog Image = 509KB

The Quality certainly looked different, which was very obvious in
Photoshop at 200% maginification.

Soren,

I've been enjoying the pics you have posted recently. You seem to be one of of heavy users of the 850Z and have you experienced the variable shutter lag time that others have (including Steve in his posted review)? Have you worked around it as the message in Steve's message board indicated? Here is the link:

For me, it's a tossup between the 850Z & Kodak DC290 and the coin is in the air. Hope you can shed some lite/confirm Kerry Lau's diagnosis & solution on the shutter lag time...Harvey

There is some sort of shutter lag, and I am not used to this yet because my standard equipment has no perceptable lag time. As far as being variable I think it is all technique of pushing the shutter, since it is a two stage shutter, half way focuses and gets the exposure info, all the way takes the picture, just make sure you push teh shutter doen all the way. Maybe Epson needs to design the button so it is more consistant. I must say that any camera with a shutter lag (all digital cameras) will take a bit of planning for action shots.

Steve didn't mention the Epsons ability to zoom in to the picture while using the LCD. This has become my favorite feature, and allows me to better judge whether a picture is a keeper.

To me the shutter lag time is a non-issue. Please read my post on the "shutter lag time" thread. I agree that Epson could have designed a better shutter mechanism, but it's not as bad as it sounds. All you need to do is press the shutter release firmly(not forcefully) to take a picture, and the Epson performs like any other digicam or better. My last digicam was a Nikon cp900. The Epson is better than the Nikon in every way. You can find minor flaws in EVERY digicam available on the market right now, but I think I can live with the shortcommings of the Epson(until something MUCH better comes along)!

Meanwhile, have fun!
