Yepp

  1. A good camera body at $500 sell very well.
  2. A good camera body at $1000 sell good
  3. A good camera body at $2000 is harder to sell
  4. A good camera body at $5000 sell in very small series

So, for a good FF DSLR to be a success in sales, it needs to be $1000 or less, or even better - below $500.

If this is possible depends on the price of the sensor. If this is something that the companies are interested in depends on decisions.
