on why you say it's "the best VR system" you've ever used. Is it ease of use? Image quality? Focusing? ....

How good is the playback in slow motion?

On what screen or system do you usually play back the video?

Thanks.

By "best VR" i was referring to the VR's ability to stabilize for a still shot; i am able to shoot at 1/15 -- even an 1/8 with a wide lens setting and bracing -- of a second and get more than acceptable shots.  Many of them are critically sharp at 1:1 inspection, actually.

I am a long-time Nikon shooter and have using their VR systems for a decade.  I also have a Panasonic m4/3 system with its OIS lenses.  I cannot shoot their systems that slow with critical sharpness and both of those systems let me shoot by a viewfinder, which is inherently more stable than the handheld position of my use of the G1x (since the G1x viewfinder is crap . . .)

Image quality is, as i've noted, really up there with the best i've seen out of Canon's APS dSLRs . . . which is to say, a stop or so less DR than the Nikons.  (Sorry, don't mean to start a flame war, but in my view it is true.)  But that also means that it is two full stops better than any small sensored digicam; the other attributes of image quality -- color gamut, high ISO performance, etc -- are similarly excellent.

On video, hmmm.  I am the wrong guy to ask.  I've used the video ability of the G1x but, honestly, i have not a clue what i am doing and cannot possibly compare it to other systems.  My Panny GH1 is supposed to have excellent video, for example, but it all looks the same to me.
