the same happened to me, the new one has had a few lock-ups so far but nothing like the original so I'm reasonably happy (will obviously be much happier when Olympus come up with an explanation and a solution to what ever is causing the problem though)

So much to learn, so little time left to do it!

Why should there be ANY lock ups at all on a camera targeted for pros?

Please enlighten me.

Mush the same way that the canon 7D had focus problems to start with - I got one of those too, the 1DX had a recall on some of its earlier releases (one of my buddies cameras went back twice before it was sorted, Nikon had over-oiling problems which fouled the sensor etc)

Oh, and the early 707's dropped engines all over the place, the Dreamliner had batter fires, most species of cars have to be recalled to fix faults - the list is endless (if only you look)

I think the technical phrase for this effect is "Sh1t happens"!
