Consumption vs Production

You are comparing consumption and production. Playing video games is consuming media, in the same way that watching TV or a movie is or reading a book is. Taking photographs is production - at the end of the process you have made something. Unless you are consuming information in order to learn I think it is normal to feel that production has more value than consumption (for the purposes of entertainment).

You may not feel the same if you had spent several years making video games (as in game development) vs taking photos.
